RAF wings above an anchor. I presume that it was introduced after the Marine
Branch was disbanded 8 January 1986, and I thought that it continued in use
until 1993 when the duties of the unit were contracted out to a private company.

The craft shown above is a former RAF Marine Craft which would have used the
RAF Ensign until the disbandment of the RAF Marine Branch in early 1986. From
that time the craft still used the RAF Roundel and boat numbers and were
operated by civilian contractors but "owned" by MoD Air. It looks like the "RAF"
eagle with something underneath - possibly an anchor or a crown in the fly. From
1991 the craft were transferred under the DMS(N) or RMAS flag. Thus the flag is
in between - the date of the photo is 29th May 1986. (I took the photo at
Devonport).
